The Massage Therapist

Goals

Jo’s purpose is to build trust over time with clients that leads to muscular tension release while also aiding in their client’s abilities to listen to physiological responses happening during each session / beyond sessions within their body – this starts with the breath. Jo is deeply committed to unraveling with clients from the foundational belief that co-regulation is how we build a deeper understanding of what we are actually experiencing in our systems. All experiences are welcomed & provide us with more information about ourselves. Jo has worked with many needs and predominantly helps to support reoccurring stress injuries.

Jo specializes in working with athletes & fitness enthusiasts working through post injury rehabilitation, surgery/scar care recovery, as well as supporting physical disabilities across many spectrums such as EDS (Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome), scoliosis, strokes, spinal fusions, etc. Jo also works to support humans facing the impact of psychological and physiological trauma in various forms through a trauma informed lens, energetics, noninvasive touch, and guided breath awareness. This includes but is not limited to working with the LGBTQIA+ community. Jo also believes in the importance of postnatal/postpartum care through massage therapy and although they do not provide prenatal massage they deeply appreciate working with those acclimating to parenthood. Jo has also worked with adolescence between the ages of 6-18 with the consent of parents and possible accompaniment.

Jo is committed to understanding how their identity informs every aspect of their experience – recognizes their whiteness and physical abilities have afforded them systematic privileges that have helped them benefit from settler colonialism. They recognize that the origin to which many of the praxis they’ve worked with come from indigenous knowledge, tradition & wisdom stolen and appropriated for sake of gate keeping and capitalism. They are deeply dedicated to care rooted in community liberation, mutual aid, and harm reduction – how can we dismantle systemic / systematic harm and rebuild together?

As Jo realizes more about the complexities of personal journey, they simultaneously gain insight on assisting others in their structuring // restructuring physical and embodied human experience.

Every touch is defined with intention.
